KEEPING YOUR ENERGY LEVELS HIGH

It’s really important that you eat regularly so that you are able to sustain constant energy levels. If you go for long periods without eating, most people will just grab the nearest thing to eat which is usually an unhealthy snack.

Staring the day with breakfast is really important and will help give you the energy you need whether working on the production line or in an office, as well as some of the vitamins and minerals needed for good health. You’ll find a wide range of options for breakfast, from traditional English breakfast, through to great healthier options like porridge, cereals and fresh fruits and yoghurts.

Porridge is a fantastic way to start the day as oats have a low GI (glycaemic index) which means they increase blood sugar levels gradually and over a longer period of time. Because they are digested and absorbed slowly, they may also be good for those at risk of diabetes. The slow release of energy also means you are less likely to feel hungry or want to eat unhealthy snacks. Oats also contain a particular type of fibre that is soluble and is known as beta glucan, which can lower cholesterol levels and help prevent heart disease.
